Gatlinburg Entertainment Guide: Five Things You Don't Want to Miss in 2016

There are plenty of dinner shows and various forms of live entertainment in Gatlinburg. One of the best is Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre and Music Hall, featuring on-stage comedy with a western twang. Another is the popular The Captured game where you are locked in a room and have 1 hour to escape. You may want to check out the hypnotic fun of Guy Michaels at the Smoky Mountain Resort. Or the great street magician Keith Fields at the Iris Theater. A new magic show in town is Impossibilities, featuring mentalist Erik Dobell and magician Chris Collins.

So, lace up those sneakers and head over to one of these five Gatlinburg entertainment attractions you are sure to enjoy this year!

The Captured

This is the new attraction everyone is talking about! It is an interactive live escape game where participants are locked together in a room and given a limited amount of time to escape. You'll work together using clues, finding trap doors and solving puzzles and riddles to make your break. It's a team-building event with a horror-story setting. Try your wits in The Cellar or Scarlett's Room. The Captured is truly a live escape experience!

Rated 5 stars on TripAdvisor (69 ratings, of which 68 are 5 star and 1 is 4 star), The Captured is "very engaging, and mentally stimulating".

Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre

If you come with the family (or even if don't!) this is going to be one of the coolest, most enjoyable things to do in Gatlinburg.  But, don't take my word for it.  TripAdvisor gives Sweet Fanny Adams a 5-star rating (nearly 600 reviews). It would be a tragedy to miss.  It's a musical comedy entertainment attraction nearly 40 years running. Take a trip back to the late 1800s era music halls where stage performance was filled with comic mayhem. Proclaimed as "stupendous... quicksilver nonsense... entirely delightful!" the Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre will make your day. For example, the Kerfuffle Follies present old-fashioned songs, dances, comedy acts, and the infamous dancing trench coats routine.  It's a Vaudeville style of comedy. Or, check out the Once Upon a Trunk musical, a hilarious story about a janitor who opens a dusty trunk to find a troop of actors that have been trapped for a hundred years.  A viewing of Fanny's Festive Fruitcake Follies is another. It's about the Christmas Carol and Twelve Days of Christmas featuring songs, dances, and comedy acts.  Its lots of side-spitting laughs, outrageous comedy and hilarious musical fun.  Come enjoy one of the 30 original comedy shows today. It is advised that you make reservations ahead of time, but check at the door for openings.

Admission: $25 (includes tax) for Adults, $22.75 for Seniors and Military, $9 for Children under 12.  If you have a small child that can sit on a your lap, there is no charge for that child.

A Brit of Magic

Street Magician Keith Fields presents "an interactive roller coaster ride of fun and excitement" fours months of the year in Gatlinburg TN with his Brit of Magic show. It's a fun way to to enjoy magic with a British flair.  Fields is the 1988 International Street Performer of the Year who has performed around the world. Host Sarah Harfield completes the package by keeping Keith on script when he meanders with participating audience members. If you've ever been to an English pub you may not have understood all the jokes.  But, the British sense of humor as presented by Fields will have you rolling no matter your nationality. And, the magic, ventriloquism, and sleight of  hand are really, really awesome. Fun! Fun! Fun!
